B.L.A.C ARTISTS READ HARPER!
Celebrate beloved Black poet of the nineteenth-century, Frances E. W. Harper, as she turns 200! Downtown's newest gallery dedicated to uplifting Black Artists hosts this live reading by artists & friends, broadcasting her words from her century to ours. The reading coincides with the last week of the Ancestral Threads Exhibition, a three woman show (Arianna Barley, Wabwila Mugala, Semoria Mosley) featuring multi-media works informed by African Diaspora culture, identity, mysticism and colonization repercussions.
This event is a collaboration with the Blue Lotus Arts Collective, #Harper 200 Nationwide Read-a-thon, part of the Harper200 initiatives sponsored by the Center for Black Digital Research / #DigBlk; Department of Public and Applied Humanities
